SBHC small

Studies in Browning and His Circle is a journal of criticism, history, and reviews emphasizing the life and works of victorian poet Robert Browning. Articles are also welcome that concern the life and works of Elizabeth Barrett Browning or that associate the Brownings with their circle of friends or the Victorian era.

Established in 1973, SBHC (formerly The Browning Newsletter) was published twice annually until 1984 when the format changed to one issue per year. During 1989-1993, volumes 17-20 consisted of collections of papers delivered at the international conferences held at the Armstrong Browning Library. With Volume 21 the journal returned to its original focus. Volumes 25 and 26 contain papers presented at the Library's fiftieth anniversary international conference.

Submission Guidelines:

Articles submitted for publication are preferred on a clearly labeled disk in Microsoft Word format, double spaced, and should conform to the current Chicago Manual of Style, using endnotes to document sources. For blind reading purposes, include two paper copies of the article without the author's name on the pages, but please do attach a cover letter that includes the author's name, affiliation, and mailing address. Decisions will be made within six months.
